Add/Edit Tasks
There are two ways to add tasks: quick add and detailed view.
Quick Add
- Quick Add: At the bottom of any filter or list is a text box that allows you to quickly enter a task. Simply press type your task and press the + button. The task will automatically take on the characteristics of the current list If the list is all tasks due today, the task due date will default to today. If you are viewing a filter or tasks with importance !!!!, it will default to that importance.
- Assigning lists during quick add: To make you more productive, Astrid allows you to assign tasks to lists during quick add. After you type your task, simply type a pound sign (#) followed by your list name. Once you short press the + sign, your task will be added and assigned to your desired list.
- Going directly to detailed New Task/Edits screen: Tap the + sign before typing a task in takes you directly to a blank New Task screen. If you have already typed the task but want to do further updates long press the + button to add more details.
In the detailed view, you can have recurring tasks, reminders, notes, and much more. To access the Edit screen of an existing task, either long or short press a task and press Edit. Below is an overview of the various tabs in this view.

Basic
- Title: The name of the task
- Importance: How important is it to finish this task
- Deadline: When the task needs to be finished (options to set no deadline or a specific day and time).
- Repeats: Unchecked by default. Check the box to get options to change the repeat interval by days, weeks, months, and hours. In the weekly repeat interval, you can also select which days that the task should repeat.
- Repeat from Completion: The next tasks due date will be the given number of hours, days, weeks or months from the time you complete the task. Perfect for haircuts or changing a water filter.
- Repeat from Due Date: Repeats from the date and time of the initial task. Great for weekly or monthly tasks that like taking out the trash or paying a bill.
- Add to List: Add the task to list(s) you think it belongs to. When you start to type, Astrid will suggest any similarly spelled lists you have already created. You can also use the drop down to pick the list that you want to assign the task to.
- Notes: Any additional information that should be included with the task (e.g., could be contact name or a flight number).

Alarms
- Remind me… When the task is due: Gives you a reminder at the deadline.
- Remind me… When the task is overdue: Gives you occasional reminders after the deadline until you finish the task.
- Remind me… Randomly once in: an hour, a day, a week, in two weeks, a month, in two months. This will allow you to receive reminders at an appropriate interval to help keep you working toward your new task.
- Ring/Vibrate Type: You have three options here: have the reminder go off once, five times, or until you dismiss it. Use Until I Dismiss It to really make sure that you get something important done!
- Add an Alarm: Allows you to set additional alarms for the task.
More
