Settings

Astrid has a lot of power under the hood, so take a spin around Astrid’s settings and you’ll discover that you can have things exactly the way you want. In the Settings page, you can manage Astrid’s appearance, manage your Power Packs, change default task preferences, and manage synchronizations. To get to settings, start from any filter or list, press the menu button, then press settings.

Appearance

  • Task List Size: Adjusts the size of the text in the agenda view to be smaller or larger. Sizes range from 10 to 48.
  • Show Notes in Task: Choose whether notes appear in the task cell row without being tapped.
  • Color Theme: Astrid defaults to the Day (light) theme, but you may prefer Night (dark). In addition, you can choose a transparent background with either white or black text.

Astrid Power Pack

  • Voice Input Settings: Voice Input allows you to enable or disable the voice input button on the task list page. Directly Create Tasks creates a task directly from your voice input, with no further work from you necessary. Enabling Voice Reminders means your tasks are read to you during task reminders.
  • Anonymous Usage Stats: Astrid by default sends anonymous usage data to Team Astrid so we can keep improving Astrid to make you more productive.

Astrid Tasks

  • New Task Defaults: Configure the default settings of new tasks. You can adjust importance, urgency, hide until, reminders, and random reminders.
  • Manage Old Tasks: You can Delete Completed Tasks and Purge Deleted Tasks here. If you delete completed tasks, you can still undelete them one by one. If you purge tasks, they cannot be recovered without a backup file.

  • Backups: Only available with Astrid power pack. Astrid performs automatic backups of your tasks daily to avoid losing tasks. However, you can turn backups off if you choose to. In this menu you can also import or export tasks using backups.
    • Status: Shows how the latest sync performed
    • Automatic Backups: Daily backups ensure that you will be able to restore your tasks if your phone experiences any abnormalities and your tasks get killed.
    • Manage Backups: Here you can either Import Tasks to restore your tasks from a backup file or Export Tasks to back up your tasks to the SD card in your phone
  • Reminder settings:
    • Quiet Hours Start: Notifications will be silent starting at this time.
    • Quiet Hours End: Notifications will start again at this time
    • Default Reminder: Sets the default reminder time for notification for tasks without specified due times.
    • Notification Persistence: Check this to force yourself to view and clear notifications individually. If unchecked, you can clear all notifications at once.
    • Max volume for multiple-ring reminders: Check this to have Astrid use the maximum volume for multiple-ring reminders. If unchecked, Astrid simply uses your system settings volume.
    • Vibrate on Alert: In addition to a ringing, you can check this setting to have your phone vibrate when you receive an Astrid notification.
    • Astrid Reminders: Check this setting to have Astrid give you gentle encouragement during reminders.
    • Snooze Dialog HH:MM: The default snooze setting allows you to select a number of days/hours to snooze. Checking this setting allows you to snooze tasks to specific time in the HH:MM format.
    • Notification Ringtone: Set the ringtone that you would like Astrid to use when notifying you.
